A nearly $1 billion

A nearly $1 billion proposal for a 1,000 megawatt plant in Niles was recently revived by Illinois based Indeck Energy Services, which originally introduced the project more than 15 years ago. It was among a couple of natural gas plants proposed in Michiana back then that failed to materialize, including one now under construction near New Carlisle called the St. Joseph Energy Center.. The corporation thinks it can do so more cheaply by building a single model of mid sized ferry for use on its intermediate routes.
